From as early as she can remember, Helen always wanted to be an author & illustrator (apart from a brief period aged 5 where she thought about becoming a hairdresser, but luckily for everyone, that phase didn’t last long). She loved books from an early age and used to enjoy writing her own stories and rhymes which she would then illustrate.

After graduating in 2001 with a BA Honours degree in Illustration from the University of Central Lancashire, she discovered working digitally and never looked back. Her creative versatility has allowed her to work as a graphic and product designer as well as an author and illustrator, working on a wide range of products from toys and games, to magazines, greeting cards, packaging, pet products and of course, books!

Helen has written and illustrated 6 rhyming picture books, 4 children’s fact books, a best-selling series of colouring books and has illustrated over 200 published picture/activity books. ‘Night Night Scotland’ which she illustrated in 2016 was featured on Cbeebies and read by the wonderful actor Mark Bonnar, and ‘Night Night Adelaide’ popped up in an episode of Netflix series, ‘The Let Down’ in 2019.

Helen’s work has been sold to many major high street retailers and publishers worldwide, and her dream came true in 2019 when she was approached to create an exclusive children’s book for her beloved Liverpool Football Club. Due to the success of that book, a sequel was commissioned in 2022 and she has also created books for Leeds United and Celtic FC.

When she’s not creating books or going to Anfield to cheer on Liverpool (and ogle Jürgen Klopp), Helen enjoys reading or listening to other people’s books, wearing floral dresses, collecting and wearing make-up, spending time with family and friends, and going to (well, paying for) the gym.

Occasionally (regularly) she may be found working in her pyjamas snuggled on the couch or from the comfort of her own bed, but please don’t tell anyone.
